Chincoteague Ponies Rescued From Mud, Not All Survive

creative commons

It’s been a tough weekend for Chincoteague’s pony population.

Two of them got stuck in the mud and died according to a Facebook post.

The Saltwater Cowboys were able to rescue other ponies who had gotten bogged down in the mud.

There was an addition to the herd.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports they came across a new foal who was having trouble standing up and got stuck in the brush.

It was eventually freed and the paper reports that authorities say the mother started nursing the foal.

Both appeared to be doing well.
