Central MD Amusement Park Celebrates 10 Years

Adventure Park USA Website

NEW MARKET, Md. (AP) - Maryland's Adventure Park USA is celebrating its 10-year anniversary.

The Frederick News-Post reports that the only family-owned amusement park in central Maryland celebrated its birthday Saturday.

Owner Larry Stottlemyer says he set out to build the original $10.5 million amusement park in 2005 after owning a putt-putt golf course in Frederick.

Since the park's opening it has added eight new attractions including two adult roller coasters and a mini coaster set to open next weekend. The park has a Western theme and includes an arcade, a rock climbing wall, two miniature golf courses and rides like bumper cars and bumper boats.

Stottlemyer says between 220,000 and 240,000 visitors come to the amusement park each year.
