CAPE CHARLES, Va. (AP) - The Northampton County Sheriff's Office says the Eastern Shore campground that was struck by a tornado, resulting in two deaths may reopen soon.

The sheriff's office released a statement on Tuesday saying the Cherrystone Campground on the Chesapeake Bay is expected to reopen on Friday morning.

The campground was hit by a tornado last week. The storm knocked down trees and flipped over campers. The sheriff's office says more than two dozen people were treated for injuries by local hospitals. Most of those patients have been released, although one person remains in critical condition.

A community cleanup is scheduled for Thursday morning.
