Call for Resignation of Wilmington Police Chief In Wake of Shooting

YouTube

Community leaders are demanding the resignation of Wilmington Police Chief Bobby Cummings after the shooting death of 28-year old Jeremy McDole who was in a wheel chair.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that Robert Bovell says his resignation is need to “quell the growing distrust of the citizens of Wilmington” for the police department.

McDole was killed during an encounter with police after they received a report that a man had shot himself.

Police ordered him to put down the gun before he was killed.

Bovell said resignations of other city officials may be needed in the near future.
