CENTREVILLE, Md. (AP) - Maryland Natural Resources Police say the body of a woman who fell out of a during a practice has been found.

Police tell news outlets the body of 35-year-old Stephanie Meredith was recovered Sunday morning from the Corsica River in Queen Anne's County. The Easton resident was one of 17 people aboard the log canoe when it capsized on a sharp turn Friday night. A chase boat trailing the canoe rescued the 16 others.

Police spokeswoman Candy Thomson tells The Baltimore Sun she didn't know the name of a good Samaritan who discovered Meredith's body. Crews searching for Meredith included State Police, the U.S. Coast Guard and recreational boaters.

Thomson says it was the 12th fatality this year on Maryland waters, up from last year's total of nine.
