Body Found in Car in College Creek Near Naval Academy

Naval Academy Website

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The U.S. Naval Academy says a midshipman has been found dead after an automobile accident in a creek.

The academy said Monday an automobile was found in College Creek, near the Nimitz library on academy grounds in Annapolis.

An Anne Arundel County Fire Department dive team searched the vehicle, which was found Sunday, and discovered a body underwater near the seawall.

The academy says the midshipman's family has been notified. The school says it is withholding the victim's identity until 24 hours after the notification of kin.

The vehicle was recovered Monday morning. The academy says it is being examined by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and Naval Support Activity Annapolis Police as part of an ongoing investigation.
