A measure in the Maryland General Assembly would expand the contraceptive options for women and fill some of the gaps left behind by the Affordable Care Act.
Senator Delores Kelly said (D-Baltimore County) that a number of low cost options beyond the pill should be available for men and women.
Congressman Chris Van Hollin (D-Md) who is also running for the U.S. Senate this year in Maryland said that the measure would break down some of the cost barriers to contraception.
Planned Parenthood is also supporting the measure that would allow alternative options for contraception from their insurance companies.
But WBOC reports that Eastern Shore state Senator Addie Eckardt (R-Dorchester County) said she was concerned about the potential increased expense for local government that buy fully insured health benefit plans.
