Rick Taylor facebook

In the race for sheriff in Somerset County Rick Taylor is leading by a wide margin when it comes to fundraising.

Taylor pulled in $33-hundred from 23 contributors between June and August of this year.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that 12 of them come from outside the county.

Taylor works for the prosecutor’s office in Worcester County.

Among the top contributors were Strategic Wealth Management Group of Columbia, Maryland and Pamela Lankford Revocable Trust of Westover.

He also got a hundred dollar contribution from former Agriculture Secretary Roger Richardson of Worcester County.

Meanwhile, Democrat Ronald Howard, who is a veteran of the Somerset County Sheriff’s office and is chief deputy, had only raised $700 from seven contributors by late August.

His contributors are local.

Outgoing Sheriff Robert Jones, a Democrat, is leaving office after first being election to the office more than 20 years ago.
