Basketball Courts Get Upgrades in Berlin

The basketball courts at the Dr. William Henry Park in Berlin will be getting an upgrade.

The town officials have applied for a $108-thousand grant from the Department of Natural Resources as part of an effort to replace the decades old courts in the Flower Street Park.

The town already has a $37-thousand grant from Maryland’s Program Open Space.

Council member Elroy Brittingham told the Salisbury Daily Times that basketball is the most popular feature of the park outdistancing even the tennis courts.

He said that Berlin does not have a lot of organized recreation so the basketball courts get a lot of use.

Brittingham added that even though the town’s Public Works Department has done some work on the courts they still need professional attention.
