Assateague State Park is celebrating its 50th anniversary today.
On hand will be Lt. Gov. Boyd Rutherford and Natural Resources Secretary Mark Belton.
The celebration begins at noon and will be held along the boardwalk and the beach.
There will be a number of speakers on the conservation program at the park as well as the significance of the park itself.
The Governor’s Park Advisory Committee’s Partnership Award will also be bestowed on the park today.
