Assateague Island Celebrates Tomorrow

If you’re heading to the Assateague Island National Seashore tomorrow there’s a present waiting for you – of sorts.

To celebrate the 99th birthday of the National Park Service the admission will be free waiving the regular fee of $20 per car.

There were will be a number of activities ranging from an underwater Aquarium talk adventure and a wild horse “Creature Feature” to the Old Ferry Landing for an exploration of the bay and salt marsh.
In 1916 President Woodrow Wilson signed into law creating  of the National Park System.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that in 1965 the Assateague Island National Seashore was established to preserve the island and its surroundings.

The paper says that last year more than 2.1 million people came to the park pumping over $100-thousand into the local economy along with some 12-hundred jobs.
