Arrest Made in Delaware Political Sign Theft (Update)

campaign website

MIDDLETOWN, Del. (AP) - Police have arrested the husband of a Delaware state senator after he was caught on video taking down Republican political signs.

In a video posted to YouTube on Wednesday, 54-year-old Dana Armon Long of Middletown is shown carrying signs to his car in the dark. A man with a video camera appears to surprise Long and asks him what he's doing. He then tells Long, "We gotcha, brother."

Police yesterday said that they got a complaint about the theft of signs that read, ”Fix the Economy Vote Republican.”

Middletown Police Chief Daniel Yeager said Long was arrested Thursday and released on bond.

Long's wife, Democratic Sen. Bethany Hall-Long, says she didn't know her husband was taking down Republican signs and is disappointed.

She says her husband "allowed his frustration over the campaign attacks to get the better of him."

Hall-Long is running against Republican John Marino in Tuesday's election.

Police yesterday said that they got a complaint about the theft of signs that read, ”Fix the Economy Vote Republican.”

Both Democratic and Republican party leaders condemned the thefts.
