BEAR, Del. (AP) - New Castle County Police say they have arrested a person in connection with the shooting death of a Delaware State University student.

Police said in a statement that they plan to hold a news conference Friday to announce details of the arrest, including the person's name. Police say the suspect has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Malcolm Evans.

Evans was driving to his part-time job at FedEx in the early hours of July 9 when he was shot near the entrance of the Rutledge community in Bear. Police said the bullet struck Evans in the upper body and caused him to lose control of his vehicle and crash.
