Anti-Overdose Drug Distributed to Delaware Public Schools

With the start of the school year Delaware public schools will be getting access to the drug Naloxone which reverses the effects overdose effects from heroin and other drugs.

The Department of Health and Social Services will be distributing the donation of 2-thousand Evzio injection units to the Department of Education, addiction treatment centers and participating law enforcement.

Delaware officials say 185 people died from suspected overdoses in the state last year.

Many of them were the result of heroin or prescription drugs.

In the first seven months of this year there have been 78 suspected overdose deaths.

Last year, Governor Jack Markell signed into law measures that expand the use of naloxone for wider use in the community.
