There’s a change coming to the local airport near the Crossroads of Delmarva.
It’s a name change.
The airport will now be known as the SBY Regional Airport.
That’s replaces the old name: Salisbury-Ocean City: Wicomico Regional Airport.
Bill Chambers, president and CEO of the Salisbury Area Chamber Commerce, told the Salisbury Daily Times that this eliminates any confusion about just where the airport is located.
The paper reports that the old name represented a time when the Wicomico County included money for the facility.
But that ended years ago.
Local officials hope the name change will make the facility more hospitable to travelers and corporate interests.
