MIDDLETOWN, Del. (AP) - The Delaware State Police says a man who died in a car crash in Middleton was a 66-year-old from Newark, but they're withholding his name until his family can be notified.

The State Police says the 66-year-old was driving northbound on Summit Bridge Road approaching the intersection of Marl Pit Road when for unknown reasons he drifted into the southbound lanes. State Police say he struck another car nearly head-on.

State police say the driver of the car that was hit and the woman's 16-year-old daughter were taken to a hospital. The driver, 44-year-old Stephanie Macadam of Baltimore, is in serious condition. Her daughter was in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

State Police say a portion of Summit Bridge Road was closed for about two hours during the accident investigation.
