There has been a suspension of 9 employees at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center

The incident occurred last week but the Wilmington News Journal reports that the Department of Correction is giving up any further details only that it is being investigated.

Earlier this year the correctional center experienced an inmate uprising that the resulted in the death of correctional officer Steven Floyd and the taking of three hostages.

The state Attorney General’s office says it expects indictments stemming from the uprising within the next 90 days.

Both the correctional officers association and Governor John Carney have expressed concern that it is taking so long.

The state is being sued by Floyd’s family and prison employees over the uprising

Meanwhile, a report by a retired judge found the Delaware prison system has been plagued with problems for dozens of year include lax staffing and a lack of programs for the inmates.
