$30 Million Library & Innovation Center to Open

New Castle County

A new $30 million library is set to open along Delaware Route 9 in Wilmington with some 40-thousand square feet.

The September 12 opening of the Library & Innovation Center is the result of efforts to revitalize an area between Wilmington and New Castle.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the center will have features that range from books and computers to a café and theater.

In addition, there will be rooms that cater to the elderly, children those with autism.

Local schools will also partner with the center including students from William Penn High School’s Culinary arts program who will utilize the kitchen area as well as the café for their educational program.
