Don Rush

An 18-year old swimmer has drowned in Ocean City yesterday after he got caught in a rip current and was pulled under by a wave.

Witnesses say the victim appeared to be having difficulty getting back to shore and at one point was overtaken by a wave and failed to resurface.

First responders immediate arrived at the area near the Inlet after 6 p.m. and found the victim 13 minutes after the initial call.

WBOC reports that victim was treated on the scene by EMS personnel and then taken to Atlantic General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
