A $1 million state-of-the-art skate park will be opened in Wilmington by as early as summer after 15 years in the making.
It would be located on a vacant property owned by the Delaware Authority for Regional Transit and the Department of Transportation under I-95 near the Maryland Avenue ramp.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that it includes a number of inclines, rails and obstacles.
Work on the 18-thousand square foot park is set to begin this spring.
The paper reports that the City of Wilmington and the non-profit Wilmington Skate Project joined forces to create the skateboarding facilities.
